Isabella finds a new home

It was with some sadness, that today I sold my original Isabella doll.  Sad partly because as my favorite girl gollie, she was going to go to my 7 month old grand daughter in the next year or so. Sad because the sample sells my patterns and kits. Sad also, because of all the samples I have given away or had stolen from the shop, I have never completed a replacement for any of them.
On the other hand, I know she s going to a home where she will be loved, and where she can sit with my "Strollin' Gollies" pillow ( which was also sold to the same couple. This pillow is shown below).

Life's ups and downs

This week I had hoped to put lots of things on my blog which didn’t get posted relating to my July newsletter.

Unfortunately the past week has been turned upside down with our youngest (3&1/2 year old) grandson being diagnosed with Wilms tumor . He should end up being Ok but only after a period of chemotherapy, (which started yesterday), surgery to remove a kidney and whatever is ascertained as necessary after that. I hope you will understand that if I have not met all my mail-order postings,  that I will do them asap when I return to the shop.

Her legacy lives on with many quilters being very much influenced by her designs and teaching methods.  Some of her books included: It’s Ok if you Sit on My Quilt, Connecting Up, Baker’s Dozen Doubled.

I met Mary Ellen down at Arawata at Julie Wallace’s Quilters’ Barn, some years ago when we were both tutors there. Naturally I was overawed to be in the same company. An amazing and fun-loving lady. I am sure Julie wouldn’t mind me sharing the fact that the photo she sent me yesterday had Mary Ellen wearing a teeshirt that said:-
